Our field work in 2011 took us to one of the last remaining haunts for Bullock\u2019s False Toad (Telmatobufo bullocki<\/em>).\u00a0 This species has suffered from habitat loss and now is found in only a handful of localities.\u00a0 It is also a difficult species to find.\u00a0 Many hours can be spent looking through a forest patch to produce just one or two specimens.\u00a0 We are establishing an assurance colony of this species at the National Zoo of Chile in Santiago.\u00a0 The species is listed as the 5th<\/sup>\u00a0most endangered amphibian on the planet by the UK\u2019s \u201cEDGE\u201d program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nuestro trabajo de campo en 2011 nos llev\u00f3 a uno de los \u00faltimos refugios que quedaban del Falso Sapo de Bullock (Telmatobufo bullocki).  Esta especie ha sufrido la p\u00e9rdida de su h\u00e1bitat y ahora se encuentra s\u00f3lo en un pu\u00f1ado de localidades.  Tambi\u00e9n es una especie dif\u00edcil de encontrar.  Se pueden pasar muchas horas buscando en una parcela de bosque para producir s\u00f3lo uno o dos espec\u00edmenes.  Estamos estableciendo una colonia de aseguramiento de esta especie en el Zool\u00f3gico Nacional de Chile en Santiago.  La especie figura como el quinto anfibio m\u00e1s amenazado del planeta seg\u00fan el programa \"EDGE\" del Reino Unido.<\/pre>\n\n\n\n
