{"id":476,"date":"2012-02-06T22:16:38","date_gmt":"2012-02-07T03:16:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.savedarwinsfrogs.org\/blog\/?p=476"},"modified":"2024-06-23T15:36:11","modified_gmt":"2024-06-23T15:36:11","slug":"catching-up-with-an-old-friend-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/savedarwinsfrogs.org\/news\/2012\/02\/06\/catching-up-with-an-old-friend-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Catching Up With an Old Friend \/ Ponerse al dia con un viejo amigo"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Our field work in 2011 brought us back to a favorite areas of Chile\u2026the region where the Chile Mountains False Toad lives.\u00a0 We are developing captive assurance colonies of this species at the National Zoo of Chile in Santiago.\u00a0 We have also been monitoring a population in south-central Chile for emergent infectious amphibian disease.\u00a0 In addition, our research group just published a paper on this species:<\/p>\n<pre id=\"tw-target-text\" class=\"tw-data-text tw-text-large tw-ta\" dir=\"ltr\" data-placeholder=\"Translation\" aria-label=\"Translated text\" data-ved=\"2ahUKEwjOhv2VzfCGAxVK2MkDHeJrB58Q3ewLegQIBRAT\"><span class=\"Y2IQFc\" lang=\"es\">Nuestro trabajo de campo en 2011 nos trajo de regreso a una de nuestras \u00e1reas favoritas de Chile... la regi\u00f3n donde vive el Falso Sapo de las Monta\u00f1as de Chile.\u00a0 Estamos desarrollando colonias de aseguramiento en cautiverio de esta especie en el Zool\u00f3gico Nacional de Chile en Santiago.\u00a0 Tambi\u00e9n hemos estado monitoreando una poblaci\u00f3n en el centro-sur de Chile para detectar enfermedades infecciosas emergentes de anfibios.\u00a0 Adem\u00e1s, nuestro grupo de investigaci\u00f3n acaba de publicar un art\u00edculo sobre esta especie:<\/span><\/pre>\n<p>Fenolio, D.B., A. Tadpoles have a suctorial disc around their mouths, helping them hold onto the rocks in the quickly flowing rapids where they live and helping them to scrape food from the substrate. <span class=\"Y2IQFc\" lang=\"es\">El renacuajo del Falso Sapo de las Monta\u00f1as de Chile (<em>Telmatobufo vesutus<\/em>) est\u00e1 adaptado a los arroyos. Los renacuajos tienen un disco suctor alrededor de la boca, que les ayuda a aferrarse a las rocas en los r\u00e1pidos donde viven y les ayuda a raspar el alimento del
